Agent 09 · Keep the books and close moving
Flux Analyst
Explains financial movements at ledger, party and transaction-unit level, so finance can separate expected business change from error or emerging risk.

01When it runs
What starts the work
Eve dispatches Flux Analyst when one of these events arrives, checks readiness first, and records why the work was allocated.
- A period or comparable partial period closes, a ledger refreshes, or a material or unusual balance movement is detected.
- A restatement, entity change or currency movement affects comparability.
02What it checks
The procedures Flux Analyst performs
Every procedure has a stable identifier in the approved SOP, an expected result and required evidence. Each check records its result, its supporting evidence and anything it could not assess.
- 01
Compares the current period with the average of the prior three comparable months and with the immediately preceding comparable period.
- 02
For incomplete periods, compares the same number of elapsed days or business days, adding a seasonally comparable prior-year window where useful.
- 03
Where an approved plan exists, compares actuals with plan on aligned versions and dimensions, separating plan revisions from operating variances.
- 04
Analyses movements at financial statement line, ledger, business unit, customer, vendor, SKU, project and other meaningful unit levels.
- 05
Decomposes value movement into price or rate, volume or hours, and an explicit residual for mix, currency, timing, scope or classification, using one stated convention.
- 06
Reconciles all effects back to the actual movement. A percentage change is not a root-cause explanation.
- 07
Identifies new, lost and concentrated counterparties, and separates growth from rate, mix or one-time changes.
- 08
Traces material drivers to underlying transactions and documents, seeking operational context through Eve where records do not explain the movement.
- 09
Refers likely billing gaps, price leakage, inventory valuation or accounting errors to the relevant agent, preserving the original analytical finding.
- 10
Publishes an evidence-backed narrative that separates supported explanation, hypothesis and unexplained residual.
Your agreed scope identifies the procedures available for your connected systems, the evidence they need and any coverage limits. Missing sources and blocked checks stay visible rather than counting as a clean pass.
03Who it works with
One lead per finding. Named support.
Revenue Assurance, Spend Guard and Inventory validate domain drivers, and Investigator validates unexplained unit-level causes.
Close Orchestrator uses the narratives for close review, Cash Pilot uses working-capital movements, and Eve coordinates questions.
Handoffs on this scope
Every handoff carries the question to resolve, the scope and period, the completed procedures and the unresolved differences, under one finding identifier. The receiving agent accepts or declines with a reason.
04What it files
Workbooks you can download. Reports you can read.
Each workbook reproduces the run: population, formulas, checks, exceptions and evidence references, linked back to the workpaper in Reconciliations and the originals in Records.
- Period and three-month comparisons
- Party and unit-level movements
- Price, volume, mix and currency decomposition
- Ledger bridge and unexplained residuals
- Narratives and follow-up register
- Financial movement report
- Party concentration report
- Price, volume and value bridge
- Unexplained variance aging
05What it raises, what stays with you
Findings for the agent. Decisions for your team.
An unexplained flux, an unusual counterparty movement, a probable classification error, pricing drift or incomplete comparison data.
An explained business movement can remain an informational finding. It is not automatically an error or a recovery.
Human explanations, correction proposals and acceptance of material residuals are linked through your Inbox. Approved corrections go to the responsible specialist and Journal.
Absolute and relative flux triggers, low-base handling, residual tolerances, party concentration and seasonality settings. Three-month averages and comparable elapsed periods remain required views.
The explanation reconciles to the whole movement, supporting transactions are validated, and the analysis reruns after corrections. Unexplained residuals and coverage limits stay visible.
06What good looks like
What a completed result looks like
The observable outcomes Flux Analyst has to produce before the duty counts as complete on your books.
- Price and volume effects plus the residual equal the ledger movement.
- A first-ten-days comparison uses comparable elapsed periods rather than a full prior month.
- A party reclassification does not appear as unexplained business growth.
